Whitney Romanoff
From The Great Outdoor Fight
During the era of American Prohibition, the Fight faced one of its most dire emergencies: the traditional feast of brandy and turkey.
Enter Whitney Romanoff, a Boozehound of the highest order, and a rum-runner of the most potent of liquid comestables.
Mr. Romanoff was able to, throughout the era of prohibition, keep the fight in supply of brandy, in exchange for his annual qualification.
Though it was expected that a rummy of his sort would be falling early on, Mr. Romanoff had spent his youth bareknuckle boxing for the Columbus Mafia, and, with the introduction of his drinking habits, he founded the American school of "Drunken Boxing".
Through his unusual fighting style, Mr. Romanoff managed to place in the last 20 men standing in all twelve fights he attended, and set the first record for "Most consecutive fights fought."
When asked what his greatest regret was, Mr. Romanoff replied "Never getting to drink alongside Young Jude Surrency during a fight."
