Great Outdoor Fight 1918

From The Great Outdoor Fight

Jump to: navigation, search

The 1918 Fight remains a controversial moment in Fight history. The Fight came down to a final duel between Nathan Elton Gilman and Rand McIntyre, with Gilman winning what everyone agreed was a splendid battle, particularly given that the two had fought at each other's side through the whole Fight. However, it later came out that McIntyre, suffering under a heavy debt burden, had bet a large sum of money on Gilman. Several of McIntyre's family came forward to claim that he had obliquely told them that he was planning to throw the Fight, and that they would be well taken care of, but no concrete evidence could be found. McIntyre disappeared soon after the allegations came out, and his body was never found. There are still those who claim that he was "removed" by the Ruling Body, though his disappearence is largely thought of as a suicide.
